1st stop

Loch Lomond & Luss village

The scenic journey around Loch Lomond is a fabulous introduction to the Scottish landscape, as we explore Scotland’s first National Park and the ‘bonnie banks’ of Loch Lomond. We wind our way along the lochside and stop to view Loch Lomond and enjoy the charming village of Luss. This is the ancestral home of Clan Colquhoun, and several early medieval monuments survive in the present churchyard which date to as early as the 7th century, including a Viking hogback grave-cover of the 11th century.

2nd stop

Glengoyne Distillery tour

We now head for the picture postcard setting of world renowned Glengoyne distillery. Famed for its bold and complex whiskies, matured in only the finest casks, Glengoyne Whisky has to be tasted to be believed. Often described as Scotland's most beautiful distillery, Glengoyne is where you will enjoy a guided distillery tour followed by a whisky tasting. You’ll learn a lot here and you’ll have fun doing it. We now head to Stirling for lunch and to view some of Scotland’s most important castles.

3rd stop

Doune Castle

Explore the 14th century courtyard castle in Doune, with a striking 100 ft high gatehouse and one of the best preserved great halls in Scotland. Doune Castle was used as a film location for the BBC production of Ivanhoe, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and more recently the fictional ‘Castle Leoch’ in Outlander. This is a fascinating place and you will get a real sense of a living, working castle with its labyrinth of rooms, interconnecting passageways and staircases.

4th stop

Stirling Castle

Step back in time to the sumptuous world of Stirling Castle's Royal Court. This is one of the largest and most important castles, both historically and architecturally, in Scotland. The volcanic crag that dominates Stirling was probably fortified from ancient times, but the importance of Stirling Castle as a royal residence peaked in the 16th century. At the heart of Stirling Castle is the spectacular Palace with magnificent Renaissance architecture with a strong French influence. Explore the complex of buildings before we make our return journey to Glasgow.
